The 2026 World Cup will be the biggest ever: 48 teams, hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. Here's how the tournament works.

Format

  • 12 groups of 4 teams (A to L).
  • The top 2 of each group plus the 8 best third-placed teams advance.
  • A new Round of 32, then Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
